“Liandra pick up the
phone, I’m in the shower and it’s probably for you.” Patricia yelled from
the bathroom.
”Ok” Liandra yelled back. Liandra, Patricia and another friend Jasmine shared an
apartment and they were best friends. Today it was Liandra’s birthday and Jasmine was
shopping, getting stuff for Liandra’s party this night. They have invited all her
friends and they all are coming except for Liandra’s best friends, the Backstreet
Boys, cause they were busy recording their next album.
Liandra and Nick grew up together and were best friends for like forever. And since he
joined the Backstreet Boys, the other four became good friends too. About two years ago,
Liandra met Patricia who was searching for a place to live and since Liandra lived alone
she invited Patricia to share the apartment with her. Jasmine who was Kevin’s
girlfriend joined them six months later.
Through Liandra, Nick met Patricia and he fell in love with her from the first moment he
saw her but he didn’t tell her till one year ago and they are together ever since.
Liandra had a boyfriend called Eric. The rest of the group didn’t like him cause he
was always acting jerky but Liandra liked him, if he was alone with her he was always
nice. Though Liandra wished he was a little nicer to her friends too so they also could
see that he was a total different person.
“Hello with Liandra” she said.
“Hey b-day girl, it’s Nick” the voice on the other side said.
”Nicky, hold on, I’ll get Patricia she’s in the shower” Liandra said
but Nick stopped her.
”No I’m calling you to wish you a happy birthday.” Nick said.
“Thanks, I already thought you forgot about it; too bad you guys can’t come to
the party tonight. I hoped so badly you guys would already be ready with recording but
well… ” Liandra sighed.
“I would never forget the b-day of my best friend and we are so sorry we can’t
come” Nick said but he didn’t sound too sad about it and Liandra heard laughing
in the background.
”Hey listen up, the others want to say something to you” Nick said and he held
the phone in the air. Liandra heard the other four saying Happy Birthday and then she
heard them sing.
”Thanks you guys, I love you all” Liandra shouted through the phone.
”We love you too,” they all yelled back. Meanwhile Patricia came into the living
room.
"Hey who’s on the phone?” she asked.
“It’s your crazy boyfriend and the guys,” Liandra laughed.
“Yeah well tell him I love him.” Patricia said and she disappeared in the
kitchen.
“He loves you back” Liandra yelled a minute later.
”Well we have to get going” Nick said, “we’ll see you next week then
ok?” he said.
”Next week” Liandra smiled and hung up.”Ah man why can’t they be here
tonight, they’ll miss a great party” Liandra sighed as she came in the kitchen.
“Well I’m sure they’ll spoil you when they get back, so don’t worry,
we’ll have another party then” Patricia said and she got that evil smile on her
face.
”Why do you have that evil smile on your face?” Liandra asked but got
interrupted by Jasmine who was coming in with two bags full of snacks for the party.
”I got everything for tonight but no cake, so we’ll make one ourselves”
Jasmine smiled.
”Yeah I hope that won’t turn out in a disaster,” Patricia laughed and she
helped Jasmine putting away the stuff she bought.
”Well cake or no cake, we’ll have a great time tonight, right girls?”
Liandra said.
“Right” Jasmine and Patricia yelled in a choir.
“Hey Liandra, happy birthday, the best wishes”
Lindsy and Rachel said as they came through the door. Lindsy was Aj’s girlfriend and
Rachel was Howie’s girlfriend. Lindsy and Rachel lived together a few streets away
from here.
”I’m so glad you could come, how are the guys doing with the recording?”
Liandra asked them and gave them both a hug.
”They are doing great and we had to say that they all are really sorry that they
couldn’t be here tonight” Lindsy said. She and Rachel had joined the guys for a
couple of days to the recording studio but they didn’t want to miss Liandra’s
birthday so they came back a few days earlier than the guys.
“Hey babes, happy b-day” a male voice said. It was Eric.
“Well we’ll leave ya two alone, see you later” Rachel said and dragged
Lindsy with her, cause Lindsy had a big mouth and especially Eric was one of her fave
victims to start an argument with. They all liked Lindsy for that but it caused sometimes
big trouble.
”I’m glad they left us alone” Eric said and he got a weird look from
Liandra.
“Eric please be nice to them, they are my best friends and today is a special day for
me, so please baby” Liandra pleaded.
”Ok, but I’m already glad that only the nosey girls are here and not their weird
boyfriends called the Backstreet Boys, who I would call the Backdoor boys.” Eric
said.
”Damn Eric would you already stop it, this day is supposed to be a great day for me
and I’m not going to let you ruin it so shut up or you can go” Liandra said mad.
“Ok I’m sorry, I didn’t want to upset you, I’m sorry baby” Eric
said and he gave her a gentle kiss on the lips.
“All I’m asking is to be nice to them, for once please” she said.
“Ok I will” Eric said and they both went to the living room.
”Ahhhhh Rachel and Lindsy, I missed ya girls” Patricia shouted as she saw the
two.
”We missed ya too,” Lindsy said. “Where’s Jasmine?” she asked.
“She’s in the kitchen, still fighting with the cake” Patricia laughed and
they went to see how she was doing with the cake.
”Oh hey, how are ya?” Jasmine asked as they came walking into the kitchen.
“We’re fine and glad we’re home again.” Rachel said.
“Wow Jasmine, the cake looks great” Patricia said and she put out her finger to
taste from it. Jasmine slapped on the finger.
“No tasting before Liandra made her wish,” she said with a fake mad look on her
face. They all started laughing.
”So are the guys ready for their surprise for Liandra?” Jasmine whispered making
sure Liandra couldn’t hear her.
”They’ll come in about a half an hour, so don’t worry” Lindsy
whispered back.
“Great, she’ll love the surprise” Patricia said.
“Hey what are ya girls talking about?” Liandra asked when she came in the
kitchen.
”Uhm nothing, we’re just, uhm, admiring the cake” Patricia said.
“Yeah right, I bet you were talking behind my back again” Liandra laughed.
“Jasmine thanks the cake looks delicious” Liandra said and went back to the
living room, saying hi to the other guests.
Patricia looked outside the window every five minutes and always whispered something to
Jasmine, Lindsy or Rachel and Liandra wondered why. Just when she was going to ask them
what was going on the doorbell rang.
”Liandra close your eyes, surprise time” Patricia yelled and went to open the
door.
Liandra did what she was told and a minute later they all shouted,
“Surprise”.
She opened her eyes and she got a huge smile on her face, happy to see what surprise it
was.
Liandra opened her eyes and there they were Aj, Nick,
Howie, Brian and Kevin, all dressed up, holding a rose in their hands.
“Ahhhhh that’s great that you could come” Liandra shouted and she gave them
all a hug. The boys gave her their rose and then sang Happy birthday to her again, like
they did on the phone this morning.
“So that’s what you girls were planning and I was thinking you were talking
behind my back” Liandra laughed.
”We wouldn’t dare to do that,” Rachel said.
“Yeah right” Liandra laughed.
”Ok cake time, make a wish Liandra” Jasmine said and Liandra blew out all the
candles.
”Thanks you guys, for this great party” Liandra said.
The party still went on a few hours and all the guests were dancing. Patricia and Nick
didn’t leave each other’s side like they hadn’t seen each other for years.
”Babes, I missed ya so much” Nick said as he gave her a kiss.
“I missed ya too and I’m glad you guys could come to Liandra’s birthday, it
means so much to her. The only bad thing about the party is that Eric is acting like a
jerk again.” Patricia said.
“Yeah I hope Liandra dumps the guy soon, she deserves better then that, he’s
such a snob.” Nick said. Eric was very rich, he had his own company and it went
really well and he thought he could buy everything with his money, even Liandra’s
love.
”If only Brian opened his mouth and told her his feelings” Nick continued.
Brian had a crush on Liandra but he never told her and the day he wanted to tell her, she
told them that she had found a great guy, called Eric.
“Yeah well, I hope Liandra will see what Brian feels for her and realizes that he
could give her so much more then Eric than money only” Patricia sighed and she and
Nick continued dancing.
“Hey b-day girl, I missed you. Would you do me the honor and dance with me”
Brian said as the tunes to Don’t say you love me from M2M started.
”Of course I’ll do you the honor Bri Bear,” Liandra smiled. She always
called him Bri Bear, cause he’s always so funny and serious when he has to be and he
loved to give hugs. Liandra used to have a little crush on Brian but the crush went over
when she met Eric.
She never told him cause he’s such a great friend and she didn’t want to risk
his friendship when he didn’t have the same feelings as her.
”So missed me too?” Brian asked.
“Uhm no, I was so glad you were gone” Liandra joked. Brian looked at her with
puppy eyes and pretended he would cry.
“Of course silly I missed you, I missed your jokes and especially your hugs”
Liandra said.
“Good” Brian smiled.
“Don’t they look so cute together?” Jasmine said to Kevin and she slipped
her arms around his waist. “Yeah they would be the perfect couple,” Kevin
stated.
”Ah damn that Eric gets on my nerves” Aj said as he and Lindsy joined Jasmine
and Kevin.
”What did he do now?” Kevin asked.
“He called us mister and misses chameleon and weirdo’s cause we change our hair
color a lot” Aj whined.
“And of course Lindsy couldn’t keep her mouth shut and called him a snobbish
idiot. If I hadn’t pulled her away, she would have slapped him,” he continued.
Jasmine and Kevin started to laugh.
“Well he would have deserved it, the creep” Lindsy said, her eyes filled with
fire, like they always were when she was angry.
“Could everyone be quiet please and Liandra could you come over here please, baby”
Eric suddenly shouted.
“Yeah what’s up Eric” Liandra asked surprised as she let go of Brian.
”Baby, you know I love you and since this day is special to you, I wanted to make it
even more special. Liandra Mary Wright will you marry me?” Eric asked and he pulled
out a diamante ring that probably had cost thousands of dollars and he went down on his
knee.
Everyone their mouth dropped open and they all were waiting in suspense. Liandra’s
closest friends of course hoped she would say no, but whatever her decision was, they
would support her.
”Wow, uhm, I …..” Liandra started.
They still were looking at Liandra, curious
about her answer. Eric was still sitting on his knee and his eyes had something weird. His
eyes looked like that he had to ask Liandra to marry him and not because he really wanted
to, Brian thought.
”Yes Eric, I’ll marry you” Liandra said and there were some happy tears in
her eyes.
A loud cheering came up and everyone went to the couple to congratulate them.
Patricia and Nick still waited for a while and looked in Brians direction. They knew that
from the second that Liandra said yes to Eric that his heart broke in two.
They all saw Brians sadness but he covered it up with a smile as he walked over to Liandra
to congratulate her and Eric.
“Congrats, lady princess” Brian said.
“Thank you Bri Bear” Liandra smiled and she took him in her arms. Liandra got
the nickname lady princess when she played Sleeping Beauty in a school play and only Brian
and the rest of the guys and their girls could call her that but it was Brian who called
her that the most. Brian didn’t want to let go, he wanted to tell her that Eric wasn’t
good for her, that he would take care of her, that he would treat her like she should be
treated, like a princess.
He gave her a kiss on her cheek and walked away from her, he needed to get away from here,
he first needed to get over it before he could look in her eyes again.
”Nick, sweetie, go talk to him, he needs a friend right now, you can go in my room”
Patricia whispered in Nicks ear while Nick still was eating a piece of cake.
”Yeah you’re right, but save some food for me, I’m hungry” Nick said
with his mouth full and headed of in Brian’s direction.
“You’re always hungry” Patricia smiled and shook her head.At the same time
Jasmine told Kevin to go talk to his cousin.
“We better talk to him” Kev said as he saw Nick going to Brian too.
“Yeah Patty said that too, she basically ordered me to go talk to him ” Nick
said swallowing down his last piece of cake.
“Those girls, it was Jasmine too who told me” Kevin said and they both started
to laugh. But their smile faded away when they saw Brian’s face.
”Brian, would you like to talk about it?” Nick asked him.
“No there is no need to talk” Brian said but Nick and Kevin pulled him into
Patricia’s room.
”Brian we all noticed your reaction when Liandra said yes to Eric” Kevin
started, “we all don’t like Eric that much and I think that he’s marrying
Liandra for the wrong reasons. But the only one who can stop this are you Brian, if she
knows how you feel about her she could change her mind about the marriage.” Kevin
ended his little speech.
”No, I can’t tell her how I feel, not now she’s engaged. And what if she
doesn’t feel the same for me, then I’m looking like a fool” Brian sighed.
”You know she had a crush on you and I’m sure she still has feelings for you”
Nick suddenly said as Brian’s and Kevin’s mouth dropped open.
“Why are you telling me this now, now that it is too late” Brian shouted at
Nick.
“I promised her and I had to swear her not to tell you and I keep my promises”
Nick defended himself.
”Yeah, you should keep your promises” Brian sighed again.
”Look Brian, it’s now up to you if you tell her or not, but if you don’t,
then at least try to be happy for her” Kevin said to his cousin.
”I’m happy for her, I just need some time” Brian said.
Nicks attention was suddenly drawn to his girlfriends drawers, he wanted to look what
secrets Patricia had in there but he couldn’t, he knew it was private. But his
curiosity was stronger then his resistance and he looked in her drawers anyway.
“Nick, you bad boy, you shouldn’t look in your girlfriends drawers”
Kevin said.
“I know but I can’t resist to take a sneak view in it and you guys can’t
tell her” Nick said.
“Ok, we could use it to black mail you” Brian laughed, feeling a little better
now.
”Wow, this must be new underwear, I haven’t seen it yet” Nick said.
Brian and Kevin had to laugh at the expression on Nick’s face as he saw the sexy
piece of underwear he was holding in his hand.
“Nick are you telling us, you aren’t a virgin anymore, you bad bad boy?”
Kevin said looking very serious.
“That’s none of your business guys” Nick said, knowing he was blushing.Nick
was so focused on the underwear that he didn’t notice that someone came into the
room.
”Nickolas Gene Carter, are you going to wear female underwear now or what else are
you doing in my drawers?” Patricia said with an evil look on her face.
Nick jolted up, not expecting his girlfriend would be in the room.
“You’re busted” Brian and Kevin said and they started to laugh.
”Baby, I’m sorry, I was just curious and I, uhm, I …. Is this a new piece
of underwear” Nick stuttered hoping his girlfriend would go easy on him.
”Well it was going to be a valentine surprise but you just spoiled it yourself now,
haven’t you?” Patricia said mad.
”I’m sorry baby, I’ll never do it again” Nick said and his friends
were still amused by his embarrassment.
”Yeah yeah, now go think of something to make it up Carter and it better be good”
Patricia joked.
“Ok how about this” Nick said as he pulled Patricia into a gentle hug and a
passionate kiss.
”Well, you almost made it up, but we’ll finish this later, now get out, the
girls are waiting for you to finish the cake” Patricia said and Kevin and Nick got
out of the room.
“Can I stay here for a while, I promise I won’t look in your drawers” Brian
smiled.
“Sure and I know you won’t look in them, I trust you more than my boyfriend”
Patricia joked.
”Thanks” Brian said and he lied down on Patricia’s bed and closed his eyes.
”Bri if you need to talk to a girl, give me a ring ok?” Patricia said.
”I’ll let you know if I want to talk and thanks, I really appreciate it”
Brian said and Patricia left the room.
Patricia went
back to the living room and the most guests already had left the party.
”Where’s Brian?” Liandra asked Patricia.
“He’s not feeling well, he’s taking a little nap in my room” Patricia
lied, knowing she couldn’t tell the real reason why Brian wanted to be alone.
”Oh I better see if he’s ok” Liandra said but Nick stopped her.
”He’s sleeping, I just checked” he said.
“Oh ok then” Liandra said and went back to Eric.
”How is he doing” Lindsy and Aj asked. “He’s ok he just needs some
time” Nick said and then Lindsy and Aj left with Howie and Rachel.Kevin and Jasmine
were sitting in the couch not paying attention to anything else but each other.
”So babes, want to come to my place tonight?” Nick asked Patricia, slipping his
arms around her waist.
“Yeah, I would love to spend some time with you alone” Patricia said “I’ll
grab some things and I’ll be right back.
Patricia went to her room and found Brian sleeping. She thought he looked so peaceful and
cute, she decided to let him sleep. She took the most necessary things she needed and went
back to Nick. Five minutes later the two left and went to Nicks house.The next morning,
Liandra checked if Brian was ok and went to her friends room.
He was still sleeping and Liandra went sitting next to him. Brian woke up, surprised that
he had fallen asleep and slept all night without waking up.
”Hey Bri Bear, feeling better this morning?” Liandra asked quietly.
“Yeah I guess so”Brian sighed. He
still couldn’t look at her, knowing she was getting married.
“How’s the bride” he asked looking at the wall.
“Brian is there something wrong? Why are you looking at the wall?” Liandra
asked. She wondered why he was acting so weird all of the sudden.
”There’s nothing wrong, I just think you’re too young to get married
Liandra.” Brian said.
”I’m almost 20 Brian, I can make my own decisions” Liandra said, getting
mad at her friend cause he seemed not to like the idea she was getting married.
“I just think he isn’t the right one for you and you should think about getting
married, cause it’s a lifetime decision you are making” Brian said looking at
her.
”Then who’s right, if he isn’t Brian. I love him and I will marry him, I
don’t need your approval. If you don’t like the idea then you shouldn’t
come to the wedding. I expected this from Nick but not from you Brian.” Liandra
shouted and ran out of the room.
”Liandra, please” Brian yelled running after her.
“Liandra, just take some time and think about it” Brian pleaded.
“No Brian, Eric is the best thing that happened to me, my whole life. I never got
more love than from him. You know how my parents are, they are more busy with themselves
then with me and my brother. Now just go and leave me alone, I don’t need another
lecture” Liandra said and disappeared in the bathroom. Liandra didn’t have an
easy life. Her parents were rich and didn’t pay much attention to their children.
Liandra had to learn to take care of herself and she’s now teaching her brother
Jordan who’s nine to take care of himself.
Her parents didn’t want to have children and to them Liandra and Jordan were
accidents of their love.
“Liandra, please, I just, I’m sorry...” Brian said.
“Just leave Brian” Liandra shouted out of the bathroom.
”But Liandra, I love you” Brian whispered and he left the house with tears in
his eyes, not knowing where he should go or what he should do, to stop Liandra from
getting married.
